Testimonial for Mrs L Grand

I am pleased to provide this reference for Mrs Laura Grand, I have been using her home care services following my discharge from hospital after suffering a major stroke at the end of June. Mrs Grand has been coming in on a daily basis since my discharge to carry out personal care.

She is perceptive of client needs and works to a high standard, she is always on time and has a pleasant personality. She demonstrates a good working knowledge of different types of disability and is an efficient and capable worker. As a retired director of Nursing for a large general hospital and a past director of a Health Authority where I was responsible for care standards, I am well versed in the setting and monitoring of care standards in a variety of settings. I would have been happy to have employed her on my staff and have no hesitation in recommending her agency.

I first contacted Mrs Grand shortly after she had set up Aylsham Homecare. At that time my mother, who is her mid-eighties, was in hospital having broken her hip in a fall at home. Mum lives on her own and had always been very independant before her fall but it was obviously going to be difficult for her to manage in the future without some additional support. That said, I was very conscious that any carer would have to be willing to listen to Mum’s point of view and work with her so she could gain as much independance as possible.

When I first spoke to Mrs Grand I found her very open and helpful. She actually gave me more useful and helpful advice than the official agencies about the types of assistance that were available for my mother. A few weeks later, once Mum was home from hospital, I arranged for Mrs Grand to meet us both. Laura immediately put us at our ease and Mum took to her as soon as they met.

Laura has now been visiting my mother once a day for the last four months. From the outset, she and her teamĀ have been 100% reliable and have always treated Mum with great courtesy and respect. That said, Laura knows her job and if there are any problems she deals with them in a practical and professional way. Mum manages pretty well but Laura is always there to help and support her and she has always been a great help in boosting Mum’s confidence. Laura also occasionally takes Mum out for a cup of tea or lunch which is much appreciated and helps to keep Mum socially active. Equally Laura is more than capable of dealing with any minor emergencies such as arranging an urgent dental appointment when Mum developed a bad toothache.

As my job sometimes means I have to travel at short notice it has also been of great assistance to me that Aylsham Homecare have the dedication and flexibility to provide additional support even at short notice. In this respect, Laura has always been willing to step in and make extra visits when I have been called away.

In summary, I have found Mrs Grand and Aylsham Homecare to be reliable, courteous, caring, honest and open – everything that a good homecare provider should be.

On behalf of my mother, I would like to put on record our thanks to Laura and her girls. Since coming to Aylsham last year, mum receives four visits a day.

Everyone is friendly and caring, making mum feel like a friend rather than just another client. Small things like offering to post a letter or chatting about their families and holidays have improved mum’s quality of life.

As Laura is locally based it is easy for us to keep in contact if any problems arise.

Thank you to Laura and ‘the girls’!

Both the manager and staff work competently with care and dignity. Communication was excellent between them and us as next of kin. They spoke to my mother-in-law, engaging well and encouraged a healthy diet and stimulation.
All aspects of care carried out with excellent consideration, high quality every time.

I had confidence to leave my mother-in-law in their care.

Rated Overall 5 star – excellent on Good Care Guide
